Big Day

Today Mommy entered the nursery to find Little Jimmy in his big boy crib!  Since he was able to maintain his body temperature in the isolette for 24 hours, he graduated to a bassinet with two blankets.  Having an open crib makes diaper changing ten times easier than navigating through the portholes of the isolette.  Baby James was very content in his new bed, as he slept peacefully the entire day.

His 8:30 care session included his daily weigh-in.  To our surprise, Baby James has now reached the big FOUR pound mark.  We hope that he continues on this upward trend.

Squeaky Clean

Sunday’s are Jimmy’s weekly official weight, length and bath time.  Tonight, Angie was able to take part in his sponge bath and pamper the little one :).  We were surprised by how calm he was during the bath, it seemed as though he really enjoyed it.

We received a lot of good news from the doctors today.  To start the morning off, we learned that his Billie count is down slightly, which was good to hear.  We also found out that he gained 3oz from the day before.  During tonight’s weigh-in, we we elated to see that Jimmy is now 3lbs 15oz!  He’s just shy of the 4lb mark :).  He’s also gained a little more length, now measuring 17 1/4 inches.

One thing that we forgot to report on Saturday was that his umbilical cord had fallen off.  Right now it’s looking like he may have an outtie belly button 🙂

Tomorrow will be a big day, as he’ll get another Ultrasound scan to make sure things are progressing properly.

Double Trouble

Our little Jimmy was up to no good yesterday morning, causing double trouble for his nurses.  It turns out, prior to our morning visit with Jimmy, he took it upon himself to remove his feeding tube – – not once, but twice!  Jimmy’s nurse taught his daddy how to swaddle him in a way that we confine his arms really close to his body.  This should prevent him from grabbing hold of the tube.  Despite Jim’s best swaddling, when we returned from our trip to Home Depot to pickup paint, we found our little Houdini had ‘escaped’ his swaddle and freed his arm :).  This isn’t something to be overly concerned with, we’re told, as many preemies attempt this as well.

The other exciting news is Jimmy is now at a gestational age of 32 weeks.  Wow!

Oh yes, one more thing… we learned parents are graded too 🙂  Mom and Dad earned 5 stars for the day!

One Little Monkey

Today was a nice day for Mommy and Jimmy.  Angie got to spend the better part of the day with her son.  The one thing that is really neat now is Jimmy wearing Premie outfits!  Today’s outfit was a monkey onesie, how cute 🙂  After spending the day with Jimmy, Angie ran home to wait for Jim so they could head out to the Hospital together.  Jim made it through a full week of work.  Yippee!

Our little guy is now up to 45cc’s of food and is weighing in at 3lbs 11oz.

As you can probably tell, these write-ups are going to be a little more brief, as the focus now is gaining and maintaining weight.  That’s a good thing… no news, is good news 🙂

Peace and Quiet

Our Little Man moved to the quiet nursery today.  With the quiet environment, it will help Jimmy adjust to home life.  In addition to moving, James surprised us both with a weight of 3 pounds, 13 ounces.  HORRAY!  Upon our arrival, we were delighted to see Jimmy wearing a Premie outfit, but since Mom and Dad forgot their camera tonight, you will have to make due with the picture from the cell phone.
