Preparing for the Big Day

Well, things have been quite busy for the family over the last week, so unfortunately we haven’t been able to update the blog as regularly as anticipated.  The good news is Jimmy has been doing phenomenally well, and Angie, Jim and Dunder are anxiously awaiting the big day.  There have been a number of big milestones for our little boy:

  • Jimmy celebrated his one month old birthday last week, and will be 5 weeks old tomorrow
  • Five Pounds and Growing!  He is now around 5lbs 12oz 🙂
  • Over the weekend, Jimmy had enough of his feeding tube and yanked it out.  After careful evaluation, the doctors and nurses determined that Jimmy is doing extremely well with bottle feeding and won’t be needing the tube any longer 🙂
  • As a result, Jimmy has graduated to ad-lib feeding, where he is no longer on a stringent four hour schedule, but a “feed as he needs” plan.  Woohooo 🙂
  • In preparation for discharge, Jimmy passed his first two tests…. Hearing Test and Car Seat Test.  The car seat test is unique to preemies, and is used to ensure that he can sit upright and maintain his oxygen levels for 90 minutes.
While Jimmy has been doing his job in preparing for discharge, Angie, Jimmy, Dunder, and our family have been busy with cleaning the house and getting everything in order for his arrival.  We can’t thank everyone enough for their help over the last week!  Dunder came to the rescue while Jim attempted to build the Pack-and-Play, which can prove to be a rather stressful task — fortunately Dunder set Jim straight on a few oversights 🙂
As always, we are grateful for everyones continued love and support through the last several weeks, and we doubt we would be where we are today without your prayers and encouragement.  We can’t wait for Jimmy to make it  home, which hopefully will be right around the corner 🙂
Enjoy the pics!
